Toronto Wings 'AAA' Major PeeWee

Robert is known for his blistering slap shot and his wrist shot from the slot allows him to pick any corner he wants to.  He is always working on increasing his skating skills and speed and takes power skating during summer months.   The main thing that Robert enjoys about hockey is being with his friends.  Robert said “Without friends hockey would be boring and I would not want to play.”

Robert is a well sought after hockey player by local AAA clubs but decided to play with the Toronto Wings as this is where the majority of his friends play.  Robert’s favourite number is 19 after his idol, Steve Yzerman.

PERSONAL GOALS
bulletRobert hopes to one day play in the Ontario Hockey League and perhaps have an opportunity to play professional hockey.
bulletIf he doesn't make it to the OHL he wants to attend the University of Toronto to play varsity hockey and attain a bachelor degree in Physical Education.

bulletHe really developed a positive attitude towards his leadership responsibilities

bulletMoved up to higher level and played on top line
bulletTook a bad slash early in the season and missed six games
bulletAfter injury took a while to get going - put down on second line with weaker players - point production was good, despite the loss of games
bulletWas eager to learn from his coach and learned to play the "system"
bulletFirst time he played on the wing - he liked to roam and was often out of position

bulletSame coach as in Novice - wanted to move him to forward where he would be around the net all the time - carried six defense so he wouldn't have been on the ice any more often as a defenseman - wanted to utilize his ability to score
bulletRobert was a bit frustrated at the beginning of the season with his lack of scoring, but he learned to pass the puck again since his linemates were more skilled
bulletPlayed on top line and began to enjoy the role of playmaker
bulletVery competitive league - was very aggressive in front of the net and in the corner

bulletWent to hockey school in the summer
bulletWas taught to shoot more often - developed good wrist and backhand shots
bulletBest skater on the team - 'A' level coach wanted him to play, but parents held him back so that he could enjoy the year and develop leadership skills
bulletWould carry the puck up the ice and shoot - tendency to shoot more often - was rewarded by his coach and by the parents on the club for his scoring
bulletBegan to get overly aggressive in front of opponent's net - hungry for goals - was often around the net, but because of his speed, seldom got caught - could press around the net and still get back to his position before any damage
