ROBERT KIRWAN, B.A., M. A. (Ed)
President & Chief Executive Officer
Infocom Canada Business Consultants Inc.
rkirwan@infocomcanada.com

Robert Kirwan founded the company in the mid-1980's. Since that time he has produced specialty community publications as a marketing tool for small businesses in the Sudbury area. He retired from a 28 year teaching career in June 2001 to devote full-time to the development of the corporation. He is well-known as an advocate of the marketing and promotion of the small business sector of the Greater Sudbury Area. His involvement in business as a marketing expert; the media as a columnist and publisher; labour relations as a Union President; education as a career educator; and in the sports and recreation field have enabled him to establish strong networking connections with a wide variety of influential persons in the region.

During the course of his life, Robert has been a player, a referee, a referee-in-chief, a coach, a hockey columnist, a publisher, and most importantly, a parent. He has seen the sport of hockey from all sides and has experienced all facets of the game.

"Hockey is one of the most exciting sports in the world," explains Robert. "The reason it is so exciting is because of the range of emotions it brings out in a person. A game is like a roller-coaster ride, filled with both fear and exhilaration. To really enjoy the game of hockey requires an appreciation of the complexities which make it such a great game. This is what we want to provide as hockey consultants with Infocom Canada. We want to help parents, players, coaches and fans develop a better appreciation of the game so that they can enjoy the roller-coaster and walk away from each game with dignity and satisfaction."

Robert has a Master of Education degree and is responsible for program development and implementation with respect to the "Game Appreciation Seminar Series".  He also puts his experience as a labour union president to good use when it comes to dispute resolution and player representation. He is responsible for overseeing all editorial and program organization, putting his teaching experience to good use in making sure that all content is explained and delivered in a clear, understandable manner.

MARTIN KIRWAN, B. Comm. (Sp. Admin.)
President
Southern Ontario Division
Director of Corporate Marketing
Infocom Canada Business Consultants Inc.
mkirwan@infocomcanada.com

Marty Kirwan graduated from the Sports Administration program at Laurentian University in the spring of 2002. He started up the Southern Ontario Division of Infocom Canada Business Consultants Inc. in the City of Vaughan and is responsible for coordinating the strategic development of the operation in the Greater Toronto Area out of his office in Woodbridge.

Marty has his Senior Level 4 Canadian Hockey Association Officials Certificate and is working on achieving his Level 5. He first pulled on the stripes in 1989 as an 11 year-old and has officiated in over 2000 hockey games from the Tyke division right up to the Ontario Hockey League.

He even decided to get a new perspective on the game in the 2001-02 season when he stepped behind the bench as a Trainer for a Minor Atom AA Hockey team in Valley East, Ontario while continuing to officiate at the same time.

Marty also knows what it is like to play the sport, having competed at the 'AAA' Major PeeWee level before deciding to devote full time to refereeing. After four years off the ice he played a starring role on defense with his high school team while in Grade 13. So Marty knows the game from all sides and uses this knowledge to effectively manage all situations while on the ice as an official.

Marty is entered his fourth season as a Linesman with the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) during the 2003-2004 hockey season.

He was a well-respected referee in the Northern Ontario Junior "A" Hockey Association (NOJHA) and in the Ontario College (OCAA) League during the 2001-2002 season.

He decided to move to the Toronto Area to advance his career on the ice and to manage the family-owned marketing business out of their office which is located in the City of Vaughan.

While in Toronto during the 2003-2004 season he will be assigned games in the OHA and the Greater Toronto Hockey Association while lining for the OHL. On top of his busy schedule in the southern region, he has been asked to officiate during several high-level tournaments in the Greater Sudbury Area.

In the spring of 2002 he had the honor to be a Referee in the Ontario "Air Canada Cup Regionals" held in Timmins and other tournaments such as the Big Nickel Major AAA tournament and the high school OFSAA tournament that was held in Sudbury, Ontario.

Marty's involvement as an Editor of After The Whistle is an example of his commitment to the sport of hockey and of his desire to give something back to the game. He is especially interested in providing assistance and guidance to young officials who have expressed a passion for this segment of the game.

"The thing that I love the most about being a hockey official is that it does not seem like work to me," explained Marty. "You show up to the rink and you know that for the next two to three hours, you are going to Referee a hockey game that has never taken place before. You never do the same game twice, it always changes."

Marty is looking forward to working as a hockey consultant with players, coaches, parents and associations. He feels that there the sport can once again regain its excellent image with just a bit of appreciation for the finer points of the game. Marty is also directly involved in the preparation of the seminar series and is the editor in chief of the After The Whistle Ultimate Hockey Handbook.

WARREN KIRWAN, B. Comm.
President
Northern Ontario Division
Director of Internet Marketing
Infocom Canada Business Consultants Inc.
wkirwan@infocomcanada.com

Warren Kirwan graduated from the Business and Commerce Program at Laurentian University in the spring of 2000. He immediately became a founder of Infocom Canada Business Consultants Inc.  and began developing the internet marketing component of the organization. He is currently President of the Northern Ontario Division and oversees all of the web site design and marketing.

Warren received his Level 4.1 of the Canadian Hockey Association Officials Certification program in the spring of 2002 and will be working on his Senior Level 4 in the 2003-2004 season. He has been refereeing for almost 16 years, first stepping onto the ice as an 11 year old in 1987, covering all levels from Tyke to the Northern Ontario Hockey Association Junior ‘A’ League.

Warren was a very successful hockey player up to the end of his Major 'AA' PeeWee year when he decided to devote full-time to refereeing and other sporting endeavours in high school. He now does approximately 200 hockey games a year and is recognized as one of the top senior officials in the Greater Sudbury Area. Many observers attribute his ability to manage the game as an official to his inside knowledge and understanding of the game as a player. He knows what it is to be in the heat of battle and takes that into consideration when dealing with players on the ice.

Warren has developed a reputation for consistency. Coaches and players understand that Warren takes his role as a referee seriously and is not afraid to call penalties, regardless of the time of game or situation. He applies this consistency at all levels of play. No one will every accuse Warren of "losing control" of a game or of being afraid to hand out penalties to deserving players and coaches. He is on the ice to make sure that everyone enjoys the game and plays according to the rules.

Warren is very conscientious about giving something back to the hockey program and is currently President of the Sudbury & District Hockey Officials Association. Through this involvement he is able to provide leadership and guidance to younger officials and work with hockey associations to improve upon training and development programs.

"Hockey has always been one of my favourite sports," Warren explained. "Whether playing, coaching, refereeing or just watching, it should be an enjoyable experience for all. What we need most of all today is to bring the fun back into the game and I certainly hope that we can help accomplish that goal through 'After The Whistle' Internet Hockey Magazine and through the contributions we make as Hockey Consultants in Ontario and the rest of Canada."

Warren is responsible for the design and layout of all Internet Publications and provides expert editorial consultation in the preparation of all aspects of program development.

RYAN KIRWAN, B. Comm
Certified Level II Life & Accident Insurance

President
Financial Management Division
Infocom Canada Business Consultants Inc.
ryankirwan@infocomcanada.com

Ryan Kirwan graduated from the Business and Commerce program at Laurentian University in the spring of 1998 and immediately became a managing consultant with Infocom Canada. He has been a Licensed Financial Advisor since 2000, completing his Level II in the summer of 2002.

Ryan obtained a Level 3.0 of the Canadian Hockey Association Officials Certification program and was considered one of the top referees in the Sudbury District before deciding to hang up his skates in 1999. He has been refereeing games since the age of 11 and, although he still enjoyed officiating, he knew that the nature of the game would not allow him to pursue a career as a financial advisor while facing abuse and insulting comments from the stands. Being a financial advisor requires a person to have a good, positive public image, and even though the abusive fans demonstrate what the game is not about, he realized that a client would not want to hear his advisor being called unmentionable names in the lobby. And so a 13 year career was put on the shelf.

Ryan is responsible for developing a wide variety of insurance coverages and financial planning designed for hockey players, parents, coaches and fans in general. He is also working on group packages for organizations.

Elite players who may be heading for a future in the pro ranks will find Ryan's advice invaluable as they prepare for a life of financial freedom and challenges.
