This is a program which will be offered every second week
during the hockey season.
It will be held in a central location so that it can be utilized by
several hockey organizations and/or leagues.
The session will consist of a 90-minute presentation to players,
parents and/or coaches who have been issued suspensions or who have been
directed to attend by their hockey association.
The topics will depend on the nature of the suspensions and concerns,
but will be designed to provide the participants with a clear
understanding of the rules of the game and how to develop a more positive
attitude in order to refrain from actions which will result in future
suspensions or problems with the league or association.
It is recommended that a hockey association provide players and coaches
with an option of receiving a reduced suspension by attending and
successfully completing the rehabilitation program.
The seminar will include a written test and a participation evaluation
by the hockey consultant presenting the session.
The seminars will be attended by players, parents and/or coaches who
have committed severe and/or repeat offenses and who have been identified
as concerns by the league.
The program will be an attempt to change the negative behaviours of
players and coaches.
Parents who have exhibited unwanted behaviour may also be required to
attend the seminar in order to be allowed to attend future games.
