MEDIATION SERVICES
Dispute resolution meetings will be facilitated by a consultant to
attempt to resolve serious disagreements between parents, coaches and
players and/or the governing hockey association.
The consultant will help arrive at a compromise solution to the
difficulties and make recommendations to both parties on how to avoid
future similar disagreements.
Participation may be voluntary or may be something to which both
parties have agreed as a means of seeking a resolution to their
difficulties.
ARBITRATION SERVICES
An arbitration procedure will be offered to hockey organizations.
This procedure will be used when the two parties have agreed to refer
their dispute to a third party for resolution.
It may also be utilized to decide on suspension appeals.
A meeting will be held during which time the two parties will present
their respective cases to the consultant.
Following the hearing, the consultant will provide a written decision,
with reasons, which will be binding on the two parties.
